Shadow boxes are small
vignettes portraying a simple, but elegant, scene.
Le Plat du Jour is an
example of the type of shadow box I create. The frame is
approximately 5 x 7 inches (13 x 17 cm) and only 2 1/2 inches (6
cm) deep, allowing it to be hung on a wall, or placed upon a
shelf.
This 1/2 inch scale shadow box is electrified with battery power, so there are no ugly cords to run down your wall. Two AA batteries supply all the lighting for the cafe interior.

Le Plat du Jour is a
French casual cafe, found down a narrow and dark alleyway in Paris.
The rough wood and weathered door of the exterior are nicely
contrasted with the flower box, inviting the eye within, to view
the warm and intimate interior, where the day's menu is displayed
above tables of meals in progress.
