Deciding the order of things

Always my weak point when starting a project. There are so many things to consider and so many things have to be done before the additional steps can be completed. If you do the first part wrong, you may have to destroy your later work to get to it. So I sometimes ponder about the order of things.

In this case, the requirements for the build are fairly specific: a 2-story turn-of-the-century storefront. Brick siding. Some dimension to the front so it's not flat. A spiral staircase. A shop inside meaning shelves, a counter, and good visibility from the outside, which means aligning the interior objects to maximize visibility while also keeping the interior realistic. Also lighting which means hiding the wires.

I ended up painting the walls first. That way the ground floor boards can go in without a hitch. But first, I carved channels in the floor to bury the wires. These wires will lead from the circuit junction to auxillary leads for optional wiring from either side of the lower interior.

The square area marked with lines shows where the raised platform will go to frame the spiral staircase.

And the floorboards......
